These cups are made of stainless steel and are designed to resemble the actual tin cups used by prisoners at the United States Penitentiary Alcatraz between 1934 and 1963.
Original cups were made of metal because ceramic or china could be broken and the pieces used as weapons.
Modern replicas are often made from food-grade stainless steel, ensuring durability and safety for use.
The cups are popular souvenirs for visitors to the historic prison site and are based on artifacts in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area Museum Collection.
These mugs hold 14 fluid ounces.
