Carter G. Woodson (1875–1950) was a historian, author, journalist, and the founder of the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History.
He is widely regarded as the "Father of Black History" for his efforts to promote African American history.
Woodson established Negro History Week in 1926, which later became Black History Month in 1976.
Negro Makers of History is one of his many works, which also include The Mis-Education of the Negro and The Negro in Our History.
