The TS-1253BU 12-Bay NAS Enclosure from QNAP is a 2 RU rackmount NAS that fits into standard 19" racks, making it well-suited for use in server rooms for small and medium businesses. Its empty PCIe slot can be used for boosting potential applications by adding a QM2 expansion card that can be used for M.2 SSD caching and/or 10GbE connectivity. Its PCIe slot is also able to accommodate a compatible wireless card to create a wireless access point or a 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 card to enable more efficient backups to/from multiple external storage devices. It also provides a range of features such as 4K video playback and real-time transcoding, the deployment of virtual environments through Virtualization Station and Container Station, centralized management of remote Windows, Linux, and IPMI-compatible devices with QRM+, and web automation services with IFTTT Agent.

The TS-1253BU is powered by a 1.5 GHz Intel Apollo Lake J3455 Quad-Core processor, which will allow you to run multiple applications simultaneously. The 4GB of DDR3L RAM has a configuration of 2 x 2GB and will allow quick access to frequently-used file and programs and may be upgraded to 8GB. Network connectivity is achieved using the 4 x Gigabit Ethernet ports which support failover, port trunking, and NIC teaming, and there is also supports for JBOD, single disk, and a variety of RAID modes, including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10, and + hot spare, each of which offers data redundancy, speed, or a combination of both.

This 12-bay enclosure has the ability to natively house both 3.5" and 2.5" SATA III and SATA II hard drives or SSD drives. To support both drive formats, screws are included that accommodate each drive size. The TS-1253BU can deliver download speeds of up to 415 MB/s and upload speeds of up to 390 MB/s, or when using AES-NI encryption, download speeds of up to 416 MB/s and upload speeds of up to 300 MB/s. Using the four external USB 3.0 Type-A ports, this QNAP NAS can be connected to other devices, such as QNAP expansion units. In addition to its AES-NI encryption, there is also AES 256-bit encryption, which helps to prevent sensitive business data from unauthorized access and breaches.

QNAP's TS-1253BU 12-Bay NAS Enclosure operates using a single 350W ATX power supply. Included are two Ethernet cables, a power cord, 3.5" HDD flat head screws, and 2.5" HDD flat head screws. Protection is provided by a limited 2-year warranty.
