- Mount the burner bar/tube under or within the log set in your fireplace - The supply gas line connects (via the 3/8″ NPT connection) to this burner and the 90° inlet allows the gas line to feed the burner from a convenient direction (often side or floor)
- When you open the gas valve, natural gas flows through the orifice (#55 size) into the mixing chamber/tube - The orifice size is predetermined to ensure the correct gas flow rate for this burner when supplied at proper pressure
- The adjustable air shutter allows extra combustion air to mix with the natural gas before the flame occurs - Proper mixing yields a hotter blue flame, cleaner burn, less smoke/soot
- The 16.5″ ported tube has many small holes (ports) so the flame emerges evenly along the burner bar beneath the logs - This ensures the flame is distributed so the logs catch fire more uniformly
- Because this is under or among wood logs, it must be properly installed (clearances, correct parts, correct fuel type) so that the flame doesn’t damage logs, produce excessive soot, or cause unsafe combustion gases
