This vintage Toyo Tang Dynasty Horse statue is a replica of the famous horse sculptures from the Tang dynasty (618-907 AD) in China and converted into an incense burner. The statue hollow, made of cast iron and has a bronzed patina with gold highlights. It measures approximately 5 inches tall and is in excellent condition. Even though it is hollow, it is fairly heave, weighing almost 2lbs. Toyo is a Japanese Company.
Tang Dynasty horse sculptures are known for their powerful and majestic appearance. They were often placed in tombs to accompany the deceased into the afterlife.
